You Can Have A Peaceful Home - Without A Perfect Life
The Regulated Mom Method is a 12-week program for moms who want to feel in control even when motherhood makes it feel impossible.
If you’re reading this, I know you didn’t picture motherhood being like this.
You probably went to bed last night promising today would be different, but somewhere between the alarm clock blaring at 5 a.m. and school drop off at 8 a.m., you lost your cool again.
It’s not like you’re not trying.
Nervous system regulation techniques all make perfect sense in a talk therapy session and in 30-second Instagram clips.
But when you’re real-life triggered, all of it goes out the window… every time.
The Regulated Mom Method isn’t about never being triggered again, it’s about understanding your unique nervous system needs with fast-acting sensory input adjustments so you can keep your cool in moments you’d normally snap.
The Regulated Mom Method helps you stay in control even when you’re overstimulated so you can be a peaceful presence in your family's life.
It also attunes you to your kids’ nervous system needs so you give them the lifelong skills they need to manage stress.
Children learn nervous system regulation directly from their mothers.
You don’t need to be the perfect parent to show your kids how to handle stress when life isn’t perfect.
I MEAN, JUST IMAGINE IF YOU COULD:
Stop yelling at your kids over what later feels like nothing
Reclaim the energy spent on temper tantrums for having more fun with your family
Stop guilt tripping yourself for “messing your kids up” when you lose your cool
Never feel like a mean psycho mom for how you react when stressors inevitably pop up
Be silly and lighthearted — even when life isn’t perfect
Be a role model for healthy stress management for your kids (and partner!)
Everyone’s Sensory Needs Are Different.
That’s why enrollment in RMM includes a private 1:1 assessment session so you can understand what will work for your specific nervous system.
In this session we will identify your triggers so you can find solutions specific for you.
This is the same process you can use on each member of your family so you can support their sensory needs.

-
Finding sensory strategies that speak specifically to YOUR nervous system is the quickest and easiest way to calm down in the heat of the moment.
-
Your nervous system state drives your actions, your tone of voice, even your self talk. Beginning to identify this on yourself allows you to understand your reactions (instead of just feeling guilty) and make positive changes.
-
This course is live and 12 weeks because I don’t want it to become just another thing that sounds good or that you should do, but that you NEVER get to. The strategies and awareness need to flow in your daily life for this to actually work.
Things People Say About Working With Me
What you have given me is life changing and to think I almost said ahhhh that’s a lot of time and money on ME not losing my shit. I felt selfish in a way but it is the best investment in me, my family and my kids.
— ElanaThe most significant improvements I have experienced since working with Jessica are that I have more space and less judgement around the times that I do get dysregulated. Knowing that it is my nervous system functioning normally and trying to communicate to me with what I need in that moment is a whole new perspective that is way more sustainable and gentle that thinking that I am broken and doing everything wrong as a parent.
— JaymeI've worked with Jess to help me regulate my own nervous system and to support my son's anxiety. It's like she has taught me a new language by showing me how to be aware of my and my kids' nervous system states. It has made me kinder, calmer, wiser, and more forgiving. She also gave me a toolkit with which I can better navigate both the everyday bumps as well as the harder moments.

Regulated Mom in Real Life
Hey there! 👋 I’m Jessica Addeo. For the first 15 years of my career I worked as a pediatric occupational therapist. I meticulously studied sensroy processing and worked to help regulate kids in schools, at home and in the OT gym. What was always missing was mom. I could regulate kids in a controlled environment with all the fancy equipment. I could bring mom into the room and show her everything. But if mom was dysregulated, it wasn’t going to land. Not because she didn’t care or want to help her child, her nervous system legit did not have the bandwidth. And then I became a mom myself and I lived it. I knew I needed to reach the moms. The least selfish thing a mom can do is learn how to regulate her own nervous system. Not only will it change how she shows up, but it will change how her children wired to manage stress and dysregulation in their own worlds (from childhood well into adulthood). And even more than that, nervous system regulation for moms needs to look different. It needs to be quick, easy to access and effective otherwise it isn’t going to work.
When I’m not teaching about the nervous system to anyone who will listen, I’m regulating in all the ways myself. Smoothie through a straw, pumpkin candles and Gilmore Girls are my current faves.
REGULATED MOM METHOD is for you if:
You’ve ever wanted to be a more peaceful presence in your home but feel like you’re too constantly overstimulated to get there
You never want to waste a day feeling guilty for yelling again
You really wish you could chill out and relax enough to enjoy your family more
You’ve ever wanted to support your child’s emotional regulation but feel like you don’t know how to regulate yourself
You’ve watch and read of parenting and regulation information you see on Instagram, but none of them feel doable for you
Or you have already started your regulation journey, but feel like you keep losing it in the heat of the moment
Frequently Asked Questions
-
We will meet for an hour weekly as a group and you will schedule 2 additional hour long individual sessions to complete your sensory profile. Outside of our LIVE calls you will have journal prompts, short teaching videos (10-12 minutes) and the sensory practices we develop to use. You also have access to me via Slack to ask questions and share observations as they arise.
The strategies are meant to fit into your daily life and your feedback here (aka saying this didn’t work) is INVALUABLE. I do not want this to become another thing you “should” be doing, if we work together we will ensure that doesn’t happen.

Talk therapy is an incredible tool and support. However, in moments of heightened dysregulation your thinking brain goes off line. This can happen with a big wave of stress, chronic stress or fatigue or overstimulation. This is why in the moment you don’t remember or don’t use the strategies you talk about in therapy. When you can speak directly to your nervous system with sensory input you can legit remember what you talked about in therapy better, have more self control and more rational through.
-
When you are dysregulated and yelling you are most likely in a fight or flight state. Furthermore, if this is how your primary caregivers responded to stress, your brain thinks that what it is supposed to do.
A few things are happening in this moment. 1- your thinking brain is offline, you are not choosing to yell, it is an automatic response. 2- your vagus nerve is getting some stimulation from the yelling which actually helps you calm down (we can figure out other ways to do this that aren’t yelling) 3- your system literally thinks it his helping you survive.
When you can recognize this as fight or flight, treat the fight or flight (not the yelling) you can downshift in your nervous system and yell less!

Regulated Mom Method speaks to sensory processing for mom first so it ripples out to the entire family. Everyone’s nervous system is unique and knowing how to speak to your system not only regulates you, it teaches you how to assess this on your kids and partner. It is the life skill I wish my mom and me both had!
If you’ve made it all the way down here,
I really want you to know:
You don’t need a lifetime of healing to be a joyful, present mom.
You can enjoy motherhood even when life isn’t perfect when you’re a Regulated Mom.
